Gaye Orr

photo_placeholderGaye Orr has been in the real estate business for 30 years. She says the best advice she ever received came from a friend in general brokerage, who recommended she try new home sales. Gaye has never regretted following that suggestion. Her passion for new home sales is evident: “I love creating neighborhoods. Taking a piece of raw land and seeing it ‘grow up’ is exciting.” Gaye worked as an on-site sales associate until 1997 when she became a sales manager for one of the areas largest new home marketing companies. Since then, she has worked with numerous builders and developers in the Triangle and Fayetteville markets. Now Gaye is President and Partner at Coldwell Banker Advantage New Homes, LLC a full service new home marketing company. But Gaye’s involvement in the new homes industry has not been limited to the Triangle area. “I am firm believer in giving back,” says Gaye. She has done that and more. Gaye is a nationally recognized expert in new home sales and marketing traveling across the country as an instructor for the National Association of Home Builders and to judge sales and marketing awards in other areas. She is a regular contributing author to Sales and Marketing Ideas Magazine, the most recognized new home sales and marketing publication in the country. Gaye is a Life Director of the National Home Builders Association, sits on the Board of Governors for the National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC) and the 50+ Council, and serves on NAHB’s Education Committee. She is a Past Chairman of the NSCM and Institute of Residential Marketing (IRM). Locally, Gaye is the 2014 Treasurer of the Raleigh-Wake Home Builders Association’s and chairs the Triangle Sales and Marketing Council’s Education Committee. Gaye holds many prestigious industry designations including Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB) and the highest designation in new home sales and marketing Master In Residential Marketing (MIRM). Her passion for education is evident to those that know her. Gaye is an instructor for IRM and created the MIRM Aid Mentor Program to help candidates complete the case study requirement to achieve the MIRM designation. She was recognized for her dedication to education in 2010 when she received the Trina Ripley Excellence in Education Award from IRM. Gaye is active in community organizations. She is sustaining member of the Junior League of Raleigh. She is involved with many other worth while organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, SPCA, HOSPICE and The Marrow Foundation. Balancing family and work can be tricky. “You have to make the effort,” says Gaye. Family is very important to Gaye and she says she’s lucky to have hers here in Raleigh. She loves to cook so most weekends there are family gatherings at the Orr residence. She also enjoys tending to her 28 rose bushes, turkey hunting and fishing. Cary Strickland

Cary_Strickland_1000x750“It has been an interesting journey,” says Cary Strickland, “watching our industry change into what it is today.” Cary is Vice President of Builder/Developer Relations for Coldwell Banker Advantage New Homes. After seeing what he terms a “tectonic shift” in our economy, he decided it was time to do something different and left Fonville Morisey and Barefoot after 21 years. His focus now is working with builders and developers to pair the right builder with the right piece of dirt. In addition, he helps set up the sales and marketing efforts for those properties. Cary has lived in Raleigh since he was 5 years old and knows this market well. His family started in the real estate business in 1964, and he received his license in 1973. “Back then our MLS was a 3-Ring binder,” says Strickland. “I would accompany my father to the MLS office on Fridays and pick up the new pages to update our book!” During his early career, there was only general brokerage; builders sold their own new homes. After working in general brokerage for 11 years, in 1989 he moved into the newly evolving arena of new home sales, becoming incredibly successful selling some of the Triangle’s premier neighborhoods. His experience with builders and developers during his years in new home sales has proven to be invaluable. “I have worked with so many great builders and developers over the years,” says Cary, “and I enjoy helping them continue to create new communities, assembling builder teams, sales teams, and putting together marketing plans for their properties.” “I’m interested in providing service and advice,” says Strickland, referencing his firm belief in the Golden Rule. “If you treat everyone they way you would like to be treated, the rest will fall into place,” he says. “For me, it’s about what I can bring to any relationship that might be helpful. Debbie Conaway

photo_placeholderDebbie Conaway moved to the Raleigh area in 1985 from the Midwest. She obtained her NC Realtor license in 1993. She worked for a local builder for over 18 years, starting in new home sales before becoming Land Resource Manager for the Region, covering Raleigh, Charlotte and Wilmington. She expanded her experience in new homes by becoming a Sales Manager for a regional builder. Debbie joined Coldwell Banker Advantage New Homes in the Fall of 2012 as Business Development Manager. In her position, Debbie concentrates on building relationships with builders and developers. Debbie is a member of the local, state and National Board of Realtors, the Triangle Sales and Marketing Council and the Home Builders Associations of Raleigh-Wake County and Durham-Orange-Chatham Counties. In her spare time, Debbie is a huge sports fan, watching and attending as many sporting events as she can. She is an avid golfer and loves spending time relaxing on the beach. Lori Hopper

Lori HopperLori has been in the new homes industry for over 20 years and has done marketing and graphic design for builders and developers across the Triangle. She has a BA in Journalism/Advertising from UNC-Chapel Hill, and has her Broker’s license, CSP and MIRM designations. Lori has been active in the Triangle Sales and Marketing Council, serving as MAME Chair, TSMC Chair, and member of countless committees. She is a two time winner of MAME Marketing Director of the Year, three time Chairman’s Award winner, and in 2001 received the TSMC lifetime Achievement Award. She has also chaired the NCHBA Marketing Committee. Lori has also been Assistant Publisher for Ivy House Publishing, and is the owner of Ceragraphics, LLC, a graphic design and marketing firm in Raleigh. She has served on the Board of Directors for Ten Thousand Villages, a Fair Trade Retailer.
